  • Learn how to incorporate and solidify these skills at the beginning of your career.

Benefits

Yin is a branch of yoga that teaches stillness while targeting the connective tissue of the lumbopelvic, hip and pelvic floor regions. Yin postures are typically held for 2-5 minutes, focusing on the breath, creating stillness of the mind in order to evoke the relaxation response. This practice targets the parasympathetic nervous system to counterbalance the stress response. Yin Yoga blends nicely into the rehabilitation setting since physical postures can be chosen to target the connective tissue on an individualized basis. It is a physical practice as well as a nervous system practice, which makes it an ideal practice for patients with persistent pain. Evidence-based assessment and treatment techniques will be emphasized. Participants will learn the eight most effective YIN postures for lumbo pelvic pain. These postures will be broken down into four components:

  • The opportunity to experience each posture
  • Discussion of the benefits and precautions of each posture
  • The targeted connective tissue of each posture
  • How to teach each posture incorporating variations, props and the dialogue suitable for each posture
