Benefits

Menopause is a transitional hormonal occurrence in the life a female, whether it occurs by normal aging or by medical inducement (surgical, pharmaceutical or disease). Working with females that have common symptoms and physiological system changes can present challenges for the health care provider despite the primary condition that has brought this client to your clinic.  Although symptoms of “hot flashes, sleepless nights, tissue/muscle changes, cardio/pulmonary/bone health issues etc” may not be the primary reason for these clients seeking your services, the menopausal condition and symptoms can be a large contributor to the musculoskeletal impairments presented by your client.  This course will present the normal and abnormal changes with the onset of menopause and how this can affect all of the physiological systems.  The evidence based information will be presented for hormonal, GI, urinary, MSK, cardiopulmonary, environmental and lifestyle determinants that can impact the clients ability to recover.   A biopsychosocial examination and intervention will be explored to create a novel, wholistic approach for clients in this stage of life with MSK conditions.
