This class will span a 4-week period with a live, online session for 2 hours on a weekly basis.

Where: From the comfort of your favorite armchair.

How: All you need to take this live, online course is a Zoom account. We encourage you to sign up for your free Zoom account before the first session. You will receive your Zoom meeting link two weeks before the course begins.

Syllabus

Upon completion of this course, participants will learn to:

  • Create a safe experience for patients with persistent back pain
  • Become a better listener to foster therapeutic alliance
  • Develop a person centered approach to persistent back pain
  • Measure and manage pain related fear
  • Enable patients with back pain to feel safe with movement and exercise
  • Scale a Biopsychosocial based exercise prescription for back pain
  • Empower self management skills for patients with back pain

How do you get patient’s with back pain over the compliance hurdle?
How confident do you feel in holding space for and addressing one's fear around back pain?
How quickly are you willing to progress someone who has persistent back pain?

SAFETY is far more than the old paradigm of “safe movements and postures for back pain”. Learning SAFETY will empower your clinical decision making in treating people with persistent back pain.

We will explore the connection between FEAR and SAFETY. We will discuss key SAFETY learning principles and how they fit into exercise and self management for those with back pain. We will discuss how providers can move beyond education and create a powerful experiential learning environment for those in pain.

Melanie Connell has been a licensed Physical Therapist for over 20 years with certifications in Manual Therapy and Nutritional Health Coaching.  She currently serves as the preferred provider for Pacifica Christian High School Athletic Department.  She launched Remedy PT in 2018 in Costa Mesa, CA with a mission of helping athletes and active adults sidelined by persistent pain and injury.

Get ongoing support with free office hours and monthly drop-in sessions with instructors–available indefinitely to all course graduates.

Participation Policy

  • Every participant will receive a certificate for course completion.
  • We offer recordings of every session with limited access for one-week. Putting a time limit on the replay forces you to complete the material in a timely fashion which is advantageous over pre-recorded classes, which often get lost in the busy-ness of our lives.⁣
  • Recordings will be sent within 24-48 hours of the session. If you haven't received it by the 48 hour mark, please check your junk mail and/or email brittany@reframerehab.com.
  • No refunds will be given for missed classes.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations that are made 15 days or more in advance of the class start date, will receive a 100% refund by original payment method minus 10% administration fees.
  • Cancellations made within 14 days or less of the event will receive a credit towards the same course to be taken within one calendar year. No refunds will be issued in this time period.
  • Please let your instructor know if you will be missing a class so that the instructor knows.
