This class will span a 4-week period with a live, online session for two hours on a weekly basis.

How: All you need to take this live, online course is a Zoom account. We encourage you to sign up for your free Zoom account before the first session. You will receive your Zoom meeting link two weeks before the course begins.

Syllabus

Upon completion of this course, participants will learn how to:

  • Establish an understanding of mindfulness and how it can be used with clients with persistent pain
  • Apply the meditations learned in the course to our lives
  • Practice appropriate meditations during the course
  • Review evidence for using mindfulness-based interventions with people with persistent pain
  • Provide materials (including PDFs and audio recordings) to support implementing the practices with your client population

This course enables participants to incorporate mindfulness practices into their work with clients with persistent pain.  The course will include practicing meditations.

This live, 8-hour course is designed for health care professionals working with people with persistent pain or chronic illness.  

Evidence-based interventions will be emphasized. Participants will receive audio recordings and handouts associated with each of the practices introduced in this course.

    Instructor

    Sarah Good

    Sarah lives and works in Ottawa, Ontario as an occupational therapist and mindfulness teacher. Both in her personal and professional life, she uses nature and mindfulness meditation to bring calm and joy to each day! Sarah often incorporates a walk into treatment sessions or leads a meditation. She has been working as an occupational therapist for 18 years and has been practicing mindfulness meditation regularly since she became an OT. In addition to seeing individual clients, Sarah teaches a course through the Ottawa Mindfulness Clinic for people living with persistent pain. Sarah also supports other occupational therapists who want to weave mindfulness into their practices. She is currently the Topic Editor for the Women's Health column in Occupational Therapy Now (published by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists). Sarah has presented to other occupational therapists in the areas of mindfulness, pain management, women's health and sleep.

    • Every participant will receive a certificate for course completion.
    • We offer recordings of every session with limited one week access. Putting a time limit on the replay forces you to complete the material in a timely fashion which is advantageous over pre-recorded classes, which often get lost in the busy-ness of our lives.⁣
    • No refunds will be given for missed classes.

    Cancellation Policy

    • Cancellations that are made 15 days or more in advance of the class start date, will receive a 100% refund by original payment method minus 10% administration fees.
    • Cancellations made within 14 days or less of the event will receive a credit towards the same course to be taken within one calendar year. No refunds will be issued in this time period.
    • Please let your instructor know if you will be missing a class so that the instructor knows.
