      Benefits

This workshop will be valuable to all clinicians who see clients with bladder / bowel dysfunction, pelvic pain and low back pain for the following reasons:

      • There is a high prevalence of trauma in the community and the client populations that seek our assistance.
      • Victim/survivors of trauma develop behavioural and cognitive adaptations that create barriers to engagement in treatment.
      • This workshop will address an education gap in Medical and Allied Health training. We will discuss knowledge and interpersonal skills to help support victim / survivors overcome the barriers to engagement
      • Trauma informed skills can increase practitioner confidence and ability to create an emotionally safe and truly collaborative therapeutic alliance. These skills can reduce client re-traumatisation, invalidation and stigma.
